Bird water whistle

A little bird that sings with a single puff. These water whistles—now made of plastic, once shaped in clay—are a beloved folk toy in many corners of the world.

How it works: add a splash of water, blow through the beak and—magic!—air mixes with the bubbles inside the chamber to create a trill that sounds like a real bird.

Sound tip: less water = higher pitch; more water = deeper, more gurgling tone. Play around to craft different “songs.”
