Omamori charm

Omamori are absolutely amazing! They’re small amulets often sold in temples and shrines throughout Japan. In Japanese, “omamori” (お守り, 御守) means “protect.” And it does just that! Each amulet is said to provide specific forms of luck or protection depending on its color and the kanji written on it. Red is for happiness. Green is for travel. Purple is for love. And yellow is for money.

One of the interesting things about omamori is that they’re meant to be worn, not opened! They’re there to protect you, so make sure you put yours somewhere special. Money omamori should be in your wallet, travel omamori in your car mirror or suitcase, and fertility omamori near your bed.

They’re very durable, but when they deteriorate, don’t throw them away! Burn them instead as an expression of gratitude for what you’ve achieved.
