Bonfim wrist ribbons

These are the “Senhor do Bonfim” wrist ribbons – also called in Brazil, “fita do Bonfim” – and they are one of the most well-known lucky charms in the country. Its origin is from Salvador de Bahia and each color has a different meaning.

Tie one ribbon on your wrist or ankle using three knots while making a wish. Wait for it to wear out and fall off. When that happens, you’ll know what you wished for will soon come true.
