San Miguel tin heart – Thorns

Mexican tinplate hearts, also called milagritos or ex-votos, are a typical handicraft from Oaxaca, that originated in colonial times and is still handed down from father to son.

The work is laborious: once the tin brass is cut, it is shaped and embossed, and finally lacquer and enamel layers are applied to achieve vivid colours.
