Mexican tin heart – Medium

These lovely tin hearts from Mexico, also known as milagritos or ex votos, are a traditional handicraft from Oaxaca that dates back to colonial times and is still passed down from generation to generation.

It is a hard job: after cutting the tin brass, it is shaped and stamped, and then painted with lacquer and enamel to create bright colours.
