Lorenzo family folk art painting

Aureliano Lorenzo is a folk art painter that is known for his colorful way of capturing the traditions and quiet life of the people of the state of Guerrero, Mexico. Figures of saints, devils, angels, animals, and religious scenes are amongst the most depicted subjects.

Not only Aureliano, but also his three-generation family work together painting the traditional “retablos”. Nowadays the paintings include some more contemporary elements of the Mexican popular culture such as wrestling or the Zapatistas.
